New Introduce Yourself at 150 Followers

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago

I know a lot of people are doing these new introduce yourself posts every 100 followers. I think it is a great idea. Doing a new one every so often helps the new followers understand better who they are following, and it helps new members to Steemit that share common interests to find you. I wanted to be a little different so I decided to wait till I hit 150 followers. Partly because it took me longer than most to get there. Partly because I wanted to be different than my fellow Steemians.

Who is TriVerse (aka triverse and Triverse)?

I am a gamer, a writer, and a journalist that locks onto a controversy like my pitbull does on his chew toys in front of a cold air blowing fan in the summer. I have worked with many websites over the years. From UnNamed Gaming (defunct), Gaming on Batteries (defunct) but had three issues of our mag available to Retro Gaming Magazine (ongoing site only two issues released of our mag).

My day job is in a sheet metal shop where I make stuff like this:

One on the left is my recreation of the one on the right that the customer needed replaced.

and this:

This is a copper chimney cap. We use this picture to show off the quality we can do when customers ask if we can make these types of product.

I am also a perler bead artist. Perler beads are those beads that are used in school projects and such that have to be ironed to "fuse" them together. I have done a few things over the years that I am proud of such as:

I also own and operate a public relations company that has worked with clients that represent 20% of the countries in the world. My company specializes in affordable priced press releases for clients that would otherwise not be able to afford such work. Started on April 1st 2009 my company has produced over 1,000 press releases, radio commercial scripts, print advertising, and worked with clients in many areas of business. From private military training facilities to your neighbor that wrote a self published book, my company has worked with them all.

What are your goals in life?

I plan on becoming a 100% self supported writer. I am almost there thanks to Steemit and the new opportunities it has brought to me. What was once just a pipe dream is now within reach as my PR company has picked up significantly and we are in the process of purchasing land that is affordable. Once we are moved to our land our monthly bills will be low enough that I can become a full time professional writer.

It is funny, when I was younger, I wanted to be a sheet metal work like my father. I completed that goal recently, well as well as you can complete something like that. I have worked in the sheet metal industry since I was 20 when I got discharged from the United States Marine Corps (I didn't make it out of Boot Camp so please hold your "congrats" for those that made it). I feel that I completed becoming a sheet metal worker recently as in I know everything that we do in the shop I work for. There is nothing new, at least within the confines of the section of the industry we operate in. I could go to work for other shops but it is not feasible (mostly due to distance from where we live now and our land is even farther away). For those reasons I am calling I call it a completed goal in life. That and after 20+ years it is often time for a change of pace.

What do you write about?

On Retro Gaming Magazine it is strictly old games. Over on Gravis Ludus I do a mix of movie/television reviews and game reviews. Here on Steemit, it is all of that with a heaping helping of current events and technology articles added for spice. I find that I don't have to worry about writing a political article then writing a gaming article followed by an editorial on a tech company and end the day with an opinion piece on some current event. There is a great freedom here and I think that is the biggest strength of Steemit.

What does the future hold?

That is the great question we all have to figure out. One that we answer one day at a time. I don't know what is coming but I am ready for it as best I can be.

I have to make a new selfie holding a sign with Steemit written on it and the date. Someday I will.

cool. those perler beads are like a really primitive form of 3-d printing :) cool metalwork stuff too

That is right. They are kind of a primitive form of 3D printing. There are people that layer them just like a 3D printer does also. Creates a new look and allows for other types of designs to be completed.

Bringing back the old school NES! Awesome
Nice to meet ya @triverse !!

Is it old if we never stopped playing it?

Great to meet you too, @acromott

hmm. I guess, maybe not ;)

That's awesome. What do you consider to be "old games"?

I consider old games anything not available at big box stores like Walmart or Target. I go into more detail here - https://steemit.com/games/@triverse/how-do-you-define-retro-gaming

Love your work brother!

Thank you. I love working with my hands a lot. Been trying to work the old noodle between my ears more too.

Always an inspiration to see you doing what you love, having a blast, and working toward making a living. Can't imagine how different my life would be if you and I had never crossed paths, man. :)

It has been a wild ride, hasn't it? We have made money, we have made history (even if only in our own little area of life), we have also made some great memories that don't start with "pull my finger" or "you sure do have a pretty mouth".

History is where you make it, man. We made a mag. It was fun, and I don't regret it for a minute. :)

We have plenty of history to make in the future. We just have to keep focus and keep kicking butt.

I'm following you to know you better. Feel free to connect with me @lulita 😀

Thank you. I followed you too.

Thank you

Awesome! New follower here

Thank you. Glad to have you along for the ride!

that art work is phenomenal

Thank you. They are 1:1 recreations of the game graphics. Some I do using sprites from various websites as a source while others (for obscure games) I play the game, record gameplay, then pull frames of the parts I want to use to make a scene. Can be a time consuming hobby. lol

the ones from super mario world are sooo cool. I just went back and beat it a few months ago after finding my snes in storage. Working on link to the past now

While not Link to the Past, they are still Zelda. lol

By the way, have you played any of the Link to the Past hacks?
http://www.romhacking.net/?page=hacks&genre=&platform=9&game=715&category=&perpage=20&title=&author=&hacksearch=Go

Some are quite good. May have to write up some more information on the better game hacks out there.

no I haven't. thanks for that share!

You are welcome.

Nice work on those chimney caps! I am a contractor myself and recognize good work when I see it! Chris :)

Thank you. I love working with my hands and doing stuff like those chimney caps is an interesting and challenging change of pace from my normal day.
