Welcome to steemit. You not knowing about crypto and steemit isn't a bad thing, as I think steemit is the perfect platform for people to begin to understand blockchains and cryptocutrencies.
There was an article (I think it was on here idk) about how to get people to adopt crypto, and they were talking about how people should be able to earn it rather than buy it. This is a fantastic site for that.
