It's been quite a while since the last time I posted regularly. In fact I'd say it's been a good year since I was a devout Steemian, with only sparse posts here and there until about 6 months ago. After that, I decided I was done. This place was spent.
Until yesterday...
I don't know what compelled me to post. But I noticed a difference almost immediately.
Things seemed... not so rigged.
The last time I was here, the bid bots were rampant and really only those with money to waste could get upvotes. My posts were netting maybe 20 cents, which was quite the difference from the $10-60 payouts I'd been getting only a couple of months before. So I left. It wasn't fun anymore. It almost seemed like it was all for naught and I wasn't the only one feeling that way. After joining in July 2016, as well as spending nearly a year co-hosting the Steemit Talk Podcast (@steemittalk) with @sykochica, @giftedgaia, and @quantumanomaly - it just seemed like I was holding out hope for something that was too far gone.
Fast forward to yesterday. Frankly, I don't even know what motivated me to sign on. But I made a post about scanning vintage family photos, and suddenly it was like it used to be - prompt upvotes & comments. After getting back into some of the Discord channels this afternoon and reacquainting myself with some of the other users, I was informed that HF21/22 had an effect on the bid bots, and that while there were some pros & cons to the fork, it seems that most people tend to agree that it was an improvement overall, more positive than negative. I can't say how happy that makes me, because when the community is happy, the coin does well.
So expect to see me around. I plan on taking it easy this time around and not letting it dominate my life. I have some plans to start a new business soon, and the funds I earn here could be used to help make that happen sooner. Until then, I'm starting over. And I mean completely over. I have 5 SteemPower right now, so a big thank you to @carlgnash for the small delegation to get me posting!

It certainly doesn't seem to be as lucrative as it was before, but it feels more evened out. The bidbots are basically gone, which I think was a big problem. I was very much not a fan of bought votes.
