Re-Introducing Myself

Howdy! My name is John (aka UJ) and I was born on a rocky top in Tennessee. I kilt me a bear …. Whoa! Wait a minute. That was a couple of lifetimes ago. The 20th century me was born in Connecticut, but I was firmly replanted in Texas by the time I was 9 years old. I graduated from Belton High School in Belton Texas in 1976.
Very shortly after graduation, I joined the US Air Force as an Administrative Specialist. My first duty assignment was at Webb AFB in Big Spring TX, but it only lasted for 9 months before they decided the base was to be closed and they shipped many personnel out, including me. My next duty assignment was still in Texas, Kelly AFB in San Antonio. This is where I met the woman who would be my wife. I met her at a divorce party that my girlfriend brought me to. We were married in April 1980 and are still married to this day. Also in 1980 I switched career fields and went into Computer Operations to work on mainframe computers.
Our only child, a son, was born in July 1981 and we now have 4 grandsons also. No granddaughters. We moved to Samar Philippines in May 2010 and we hope to make frequent visits back to Texas. In fact, starting soon, we plan to be visiting many places in the world. My wife longs to see Paris and I want to see the rest of Europe, especially Italy and Spain.
The only professional sport I follow is the National Football League (NFL) and my favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys, second is the Houston Texans. I like to listen to country music and oldies (the late 60’s to the early 80’s).
Besides my computer, my blogs and my other Facebook groups and pages, I like the Empire Builder series games, dominoes and some very selective video games. I did retire from the US Air Force in October 1993. I was able to retire under an early retirement program.
My favorite actor is John Wayne (Duke) and my favorite singer is Hank Williams Jr (Bocephus). I love Tex-Mex food, chicken fried steak, big sandwiches and a nice steak (medium well). The nickname "UJ" came from one of my nieces. She decided to shortcut Uncle John. I liked it and have been using it ever since.
