Introducing me... Andrew Clarke a writer

in introduction •  7 years ago  (edited)

Funny that this is always something I get writers' block around. A bit like doing a dating profile, which I haven't had to do for a while thankfully. So I'll steal bits.

I run a split personality on my working life, but all of it is about understanding my audience, whether it be a book or a piece of B2B marketing. Passion runs my life, although strangely I am not a passionate person. I have a sense of right and wrong that does not waver, I do not like socialism and being told what to do, I love my children and occasionally indulge them, I love music and seeing bands live, football and car racing.

Oh yeah, and travel. I do business with and in China, and I just adore traveling there. Sometimes I holiday to other places.

I have been working in professional services now for more than two decades with law firms such as (current names only) Ashurst, K+L Gates and Aitken Partners. My work has been multi-dimensional, including areas of strategy such as branding to basic media profiling. At Aitken Partners, where I currently work part-time, I look after the management of client events, web and social media, tenders and media relations, as well as brand and business strategy.

I also have a number of non-competing business as a consulting clients and advise on general marketing, relationship management, communications and brand management (and evolution).

For all of my working life I have been writing stories. These have ranged from articles in magazines such as V8X which covers motorsport, to business profiles for the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce Journal to disease risks for plumbers working on toilet systems. I love writing. Recently I have just completed an autobiography with 1980 Formula One World Champion Alan Jones which was published by Penguin Random House. Ghost writing is a speciality that started in my first job at Footy Week, and has taken me through other autobiographies Alan Jones, Greg Murphy, Matthew Lloyd, Lydia Lassila and Mark Skaife. I also have a number of books published on motorsport.

In radio I have worked with Crocmedia on The Rev Up which covered motorsport andI am still trying to get some support for The Car Panel, which will also make a cracking TV show if someone has a AUD100,000 spare for a pilot!

In here, I'll just talk about what is going on in my life and what is happening down here in Australia.
