Mount Galunggung

Galunggung is a volcano located about 17 kilometers from the city center of Tasikmalaya, West Java. The mountain erupted violently ever recorded in 1822.

At that time, the eruption of reddish sand rain produces a very hot, smooth, hot clouds of ash, and lava as well. The result of this eruption, estimated 4,011 inhabitants floated, 114 villages destroyed, and damage to land towards the East and South as far as 40 kilometers away from the Summit.
