Justifying The Mini

OMG, it's been a while since I composed a post using Steemit.com itself. I've been using other condensers for that purpose with my favourite being Busy.org. I just really love the way it 'looks', nothing else. After all this time, and hard forks, it's still the same janky experience haha. Oh well.

I'm going to be getting myself a gift today. It's more of a business investment actually, but also a gift to myself. It's something that's going to really up my productivity and help immensely with some of the new projects I'll be taking on this year. It's not cheap, but I think it'll pay for itself in a matter of weeks.

The iPad is Apple's best device in my opinion. It's not as successful as the iPhone, but it's a lot better. Now with Steve gone, the company has expanded and embraced society's need for variety. We now have several versions of the iPad, so deciding on one isn't as easy as before. You're now having to consider size and performance as well as whether you want Wifi only or with Cellular.

When I bought my first (and only ever) iPad, the choice was simple. It was "iPad" - it wasn't even the iPad. It was named and referred to like a person.

Drawing

You know how I've been learning to draw again? I have created a bit of a pile of sketches that are now starting to take up too much physical space. That's the exact opposite of what I'm trying to achieve as a budding minimalist.

With this little device, I'll be able to sketch and sketch and sketch without clogging up my work space. I'll also be able to organise my sketches better and access them on a whim. I may even start to do something with them. That's on the horizon.

There is a YouTuber that I follow who's transitioned into using his iPad to crate designs and illustrations for money! I was quite inspired by his story.

Taking Notes

When I was in university, and even earlier than that, one of the ways I used to study effectively was by transcribing the textbook! Yep, I actually physically wrote out every word in the text book on paper! By the time I was done doing that, I'd know the subject inside-out.

It turns out that studies show we retain more when we write things out than when we type them.

I'm starting to learn a few other things too. As I learn more about longevity, I find more talk about keeping the mind active to prevent later mental issues.

Photo and video

I already do this with my iPhone - process photos. Even though I hardly do much to photos, having more real estate to process them will improve and speed up my workflow.

I may finally sign up for Adobe's thingymagit as I really like Lightroom. We shall see.

Video editing has finally grown up on the mobile devices with Lumafusion. At present, iMovie on the iPhone is what I use to edit on the go. I've seen people produce some excellent work with Lumafusion, so I'm excited about that.

I won't have to log my MacBook around with all my precious data. I'd also have more choice of where in the café I can sit :)

I hardly buy new things. When I do, this is the level of analysis I do haha. I'm so frugal almost to the point of miserliness, even though I'm not poor. The ironic thing is that I don't actually think twice before buying things for other people. It's just buying things for myself that takes so long and needs justification.

So I'll be sending this to parliament for a vote. I need a majority vote, and the queen's approval to go ahead. :)

hehe, sounds like an excellet idea to me, good to have your insights, too. I have a very old iPad, the software is no longer updated and some and apps no longer work on it. I've been thinking about getting a new one and a mini has been in my sights. I'll still keep the old one, it still works for so many things, just it'll be at the house rather than on the move. It's quite heavy, too. I bought a new laptop about 18 months ago where the starting criteria was "show me the lightest weight lap top you have". It also turned out to be very fast, have soft touch keyboard with backlighting and a high resolution screen. It was reduced because there is a later version. It's also very pretty, the bling of laptops, but obviously I bought it for the light weight ;)~

Laptops will always outperform these tablets. Also non-Mac ones are so cheap now that they’re decoupled from Microsoft software suite. My old iPad still plays Netflix pretty nicely (about the only thing that still works ok). It’s going in the kitchen 😄

i had my ipad around but feel so bored with it that didn't even use now its like getting dust over it from years but feels like something creative to do with it now 😊

You can just watch DTube on it :)
