Today in history: the first Apple iPhone

Welcome to today's episode of the "Today in History" serial, where I bring you daily historical facts and events of the current date.


Ten years ago on today's date, January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone!

It marked an new trend in the phone industry with reportedly thousands of peoples waiting in front of the stores for it's release.

The Apple iPhone was the first in the series of many Apple iPhone's.

So far it has 14 successors, it's first successor was the iPhone 3G, and so far the latest ones are the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

The first generation of the iPhone featured a 3.5" display with a 320x480 pixel resolution, 4, 8 or 16 GB or memory and a 2.0 megapixel camera.

As time progressed the iPhone became an icon in the mobile industry, today being Apple's most popular product and producing the majority of the companies revenue.

For the last treat on this post, it is expected that Apple will unveil a new iPhone which is speculated to have a vastly different design then its predecessors .

My primary phone is Android based but I still have an iPhone 4S (without phone service) that I still play around with.

I only had an iPhone for a short period of time, to be quite honest with you I don't even recall the model of it, personally I'm more of an android fan, but I can't judge much as I never used an iPhone for a longer period
