I disagree sharply.
The sentence "Islam is NOT a Religion, but a VIOLENT POLITICAL IDEOLOGY" is word for word derived from the so called "Fear Inc. - Network of islamophobia" as put out perfectly in this paper years ago from the Center of American Progress. It's funny that you say that you are "studying this doctrine since 9/11", since this is exactly when this Network started it's propagandistic work. You might want to listen to this speech from one of its authors
Something to chew at: Saying Islam is not a religion, but a ideology (and therefore not really subject to religion of freedom) is fundamentalist in it's pure form. I say this not for personal gain, but for FREEDOM.
And the last thing I want to mention. I find it strikingly amusing, that it is all about "Islam vs. the West". Two absolutely different terminologies making the whole thought process invalid, at least in my view. It's not Islam vs Christianity or Atheism. It's not The East vs. the West. It's "Islam", one single giant borg-like entity with the ambition to rid the earth of free people.
Again. I disagree sharply in the name of freedom and as someone who knows the history of the middle east quite well.
Best wishes to you nonetheless
Actually, Kaeptnkook, you are obviously in unchartered waters--word for word you are showing you lack of knowledge in what Islam actually is. Have you read the Hadith? The Sira? The Quran?--I doubt it--Good ol' Mo formed Islam (submission) to rape, steal, and plunder--he financed his "Army" by looting towns and taking their booty. Get educated, and then talk to me about what you need to learn. P.S.-if you trust Islam, move to Saudi Arabia--and try posting on Steemit there. OH!! There is no steemit in Saudi Arabia--sorry, my bad. Try Iran! OOPS, can't post there, either. Why not?? Islam, you fool. Talk to me with facts--'cause I got 'em--My Brooklynese: "Whaddayougot? NADA, ZIP--you're just repeating what you've heard, snowflake.

Obviously, Kaeptnkook, and wit all due respect, you have/or haven't read the Quran? By your response, I'd say NO! This is but one of the verses promoting violence--but there are to many for Steemit to handle--this is right out of the NOBLE QURAN--then tell me if it's a "religion of peace": Quran (2:191-193) - "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing... but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun(the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)" and try this one on for size: Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority". This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be 'joining companions to Allah'). OR 1 more--(there are so many, and it's, according to Muhammed, the EXACT WORDS OF ALLAH: Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" No reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle. The targets of violence are "those who disbelieve" - further defined in the next verse (13) as "defy and disobey Allah." Nothing is said about self-defense. In fact, the verses in sura 8 were narrated shortly after a battle provoked by Muhammad, who had been trying to attack a lightly-armed caravan to steal goods belonging to other people. I am, just repeating what's said in the Quran--I didn't "cherry-pick"--These are Allah's words--Why don't you try asking the 22 dead in Manchester, England, if Islam is a religion of peace. Or San Bernadino, CA, or Orlando, Florida, or Nice, France--you can say what you want, but have you ever heard of a Roman Catholic going on Jihad?--NO--Wake up, kaeptnkook, because they'll come after you first--beleive me, I fought them. I don't know your background, but unless you're a Muslim, how can you deny what you see happening everyday??? Peace to YOU, bro--but there's no peace in Islam--they've been killing since 622 AD--over 1400 years. CASE CLOSED--God Bless you, kaeptnkook, and may HE open your eyes. I've been writing a biography of Mohammed and the origins of Islam--try reading them--because I research before I type.

thanks for your respectful answer. "word for word you are showing you lack of knowledge in what Islam actually is" in which word I show my understanding or lack thereof to you. Besides pointing out where this "violen ideology" thing comes from, I did not say anything about islam or what I think of it. As for your arguments... i never talked about cherry picking, but actually about fundamentalism. you think fundamentalists do not "research" islam? you are on par with their interpretation and it seems like you are even using their translations. we can go on about whats written in the quran and all that, but this is a much to long discussion.
what I want to address is your point about manchester. So when is bombing someone not religious? if its done by drones in the name of democracy? am i right just to wash aside the iraq war as christian violence? bush talked about a "holy duty", so why don't you use the same logic here?
or what about the manchester bombing from the protestant no so long ago. was this conflict only religious ly motivated? is protestantism to blame? what do those victims say? what does that even mean. what do you even know about the motivation of that guy, you think he stumbled upon the quran and all of a sudden wanted to kill some kids? do you know about how he got radicalized and what are the underlying factors? you use islam a an allegation, explanation and an example all at once. but this is not how an argument is made.
had this terrorism anything to do with islam? yes, just as the IRA had something to do with chrisitanity. but it would be foolish to not see all the other, maybe even far more exceeding factors involved. thats my main point. criticism where it is due, but I won't give in to "blame islam" as the root of all evil, just as i think, with all due respect, that talking about "islam being violent since" the middle ages is anything but bad research, not to say cherry picked ;D
I will write on that topic, too. so we can have a great discussion about it. keep up the good work, maybe I learn something new.
best wishes
