As a human being, Rasulullah SAW also has a need to eat and drink. The difference, the Prophet SAW have a food ca-ra based on guidance from Allah SWT. Lifestyle of the Prophet is commonly followed by Muslims from the time of friend until now.
Allah SWT says:
".(O Messengers! Eat from good food) halal foods (and work righteous deeds) fardu and sunna deeds. (Verily I know All that ye do) and I will count it on you."
(QS. Al-Mu'minun 23: verse 51)
The Prophet never denounces food. Described by Syarah Shahih al-Bu khari written by Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih al-Utsmaini, the Messenger of Allah will eat food if he is in taste. If he does not like it, he leaves it. The Prophet also often glorify food. In another hadith narrated by Imam Muslim, the Prophet compares several kinds of fruit by reading the Qur'an.
The parable of a believer who reads the Qur'an is like a fruits ** turujjah ** whose aroma is fragrant and tastes good. The parable of a believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like a fruitless date and a sweet taste.
The parable of a hypocrite who reads the Qur'an is like a raihanah flower whose aroma is fragrant and tastes bitter. Meanwhile, the parable of a hypocrite who does not read the Qur'an is like a hanachi fruit that smells rotten and bitter taste.
The Prophet taught us to read basmalah and use the right hand. Not only that, the Prophet gave an example to eat the closest food while eating along with the tray. This is in accordance with what was taught to Umar ibn Abu Salamah.
"As a child I was raised by the Messenger of Allah (at meal time) my hands moved to and fro on a tray, so he said to me," O my son, read basmalah, eat with your right hand, and eat what is near you. "
While eating together in a tray, Anas bin Malik as ditukil in HR Muslim said, Prophet SAW looking for a pumpkin around the tray. Imam Bukhari interpreted this hadith, ie one can find the food he likes when eating together on the tray if not make his friend angry. In addition, according to al-Bu khari, such foods vary.
When eating meat, the Prophet SAW cuts the meat of the goat's back which is held with a knife. Sheikh Utsmaini explained that the Prophet used a knife to cut meat because the meat was too hard. He can not bite directly. This hadith sometimes seems contradictory to the hadith prohibition of cutting meat with a knife to eat.
Shaykh Utsmani also revealed, it depends on the purpose of eating. If they were to be lavish or disgusted with their hands touched by the flesh, the use of the knife should not be and is forbidden. As for if the knife is needed to cut the hard meat then it is permissible because the Prophet SAW did it. If you do not need a knife, it's better to take it by hand, bite it and gnaw at your teeth.
The Hadith that comes from Ibn Abbas RA explains, "Rasulullah SAW gnawing meat in the backbone, then afterwards he rose and prayed without any ablutions." Prophet SAW also teaches us not to overdo it when eating. The Prophet analogized this with the expression if the believers eat in one intestine while the unbelievers in the seven intestines. The scholars disagree with the hadith which is also narrated by the Imam Muslim.
Sheikh Uthmani explains, there are at least three different opinions on this issue. First, these traditions are metaphorical. The Prophet was about to point to the true muk min character who was not gluttonous of the world's treasures. A believer takes only a little treasure the world depicted consuming only in an attempt to fulfill one gut. Meanwhile, the greedy infidel is depicted to fulfill his seven intestines.
The second opinion, the believers eat halal food, while the unbelievers eat unclean food. Halal food is very little if compared with eating an unclean. Se men tara, third opinion explains, the hadith is more on the effort of awareness and encouragement for the believer to eat a little, considering many ma kan is the character of the unbelievers.
Allah SWT says:
"(Verily Allah puts those who believe and works righteous deeds into the heaven that flows beneath which rivers flow. And those who disbelieve have fun) in the world (and they eat like the animals) no longer is their interest apart from the stomach and lust of their lusts and they do not turn to the slightest thing in the matter of the afterlife. (And hell is where they live) or, their permanent place and place of return forever. "
(Surah Muhammad 47: Verse 12)
Prophet SAW also forbids us to eat with plates of gold and silver. According to Hudzaifah RA, Rasu lullah SAW said if the plates were for them (infidels) in the world and for Muslims in the afterlife. In another hadith, the Prophet (SAS) threatened those who drank with silver vessels as if the hellfire of hell was poured in his stomach.
Shaykh Uthmani explains, the wisdom of the hadith is eating and drinking with gold and silver vessels can make the human heart arrogant and arrogant. If they are infected with this disease, they are forbidden to enter Paradise.
After the meal, the Prophet (s) taught us to lick your hands clean. From Ka'ab bin Malik from his father he said, Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam was eating with three fingers and licking the fingers before being cleansed. (Muslim HR No 2032 and others).
Then, the Prophet SAW prayed, "Praise be to Allah with many praise, beautiful and full of blessing while not feeling enough with your besides, nor denying Your blessings.
