Israel is deploying electronic eye to track kite fire, balloons and blast condoms flown by Palestinians in Gaza. These simple weapons have been routinely flown to create fires in southern Israel.
The electronic eye, known as the Sky Spotter system, can identify flying objects that enter the territory of the Jewish majority country. The system was relied upon as a spy before a drone or drone aircraft was operated to intercept the enemy flying object.
Sky Spotter can also provide advance warning to firefighters. Israel is even developing a laser system as a weapon to be installed in the eyes of the electronics.
Since March 30, 2018, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have launched hundreds of kites and helium balloons carrying combustible materials. In recent years, they have also flown condoms inflated with helium gas and carrying explosives.
The simple weapons have triggered almost daily fires in southern Israel. Up to now 4,300 hectares of agricultural land and sanctuary are on fire.
According to reports Hadashot TV, last night (22/6/2018), Sky Spotter system built by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, has been operating along the Gaza border for several days.
Sky Spotter was originally developed to fight small drones. However, the tracking system was claimed to be able to track balloons or kites and determine the location of the landing. Operators will then notify firefighters to prevent kites, blast balloons and condoms from causing widespread fires on farms.
Sky Spotter can also be used to direct defensive drones that collide in the air with a kite or balloon and drop it.
Israeli leaders have been divided over how to respond to those responsible for Gaza fire kite attacks. Some of them called on the Isarel Defense Force (IDF) to shoot kites and fire balloons. However, some argue that the move is excessive.
