The opening of the Erez crossing is a big development as there really isn't an efficient way to provide humanitarian aid to northern Gaza and there really aren't any sufficient substitutes for land-based aid.

Of course, all depends on how much aid is allowed to cross and how quickly. The situation is dire and Israel has only allowed in a trickle of humanitarian aid up to this point.

"The Israeli government has approved the opening of three humanitarian aid corridors that were specifically requested by President Biden in a Thursday call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."

"The Erez Crossing in northern Gaza, which has not been open since the start of the conflict, will be opened. The Port of Ashdod will be opened for humanitarian deliveries, and aid trucks from Jordan will be allowed to traverse Israel into Gaza via the Kerem Shalom border crossing."
