The Enigma of Issy: Unraveling the Mystery of Japan's Lake Ikeda Monster ( イッシー )

If eyewitnesses are so firmly convinced of the existence of Issi, then why shouldn’t this monster exist? And besides, this all looks like the story of Nessie from Loch Ness. According to eyewitnesses, Issy resembles a fossil sauropod, her body is snake-like, and she is about 30 feet long.

Although many people have claimed to have seen the mysterious creature with their own eyes, no real concrete evidence has yet been presented. The most reliable evidence is the observation of local resident Yutaka Kawaji and 20 members of his family. Issy emerged from the water during a family party in 1978, and people claimed to have seen pronounced irregularities in the surface of the lake, as well as something rising 2 feet above the lake. Yutaka became interested in the creature, so he chased it in a motorboat for some time.

Another interesting piece of evidence is photographs taken by Toshiaki Matsuhara, which show artificial unevenness of the lake in the form of spiral ridges. He was able to photograph the creature because he noticed small eddies in the water just before its appearance.

In 1991, a video was taken of a 30-meter creature swimming in the lake.

Believing that there is something worthwhile in Lake Ikeda, but what exactly is another question. Maybe it's just an overgrown eel, a giant snake. But until this “something” is caught, it remains a monster...
