Is Steemit a "Pig in a Poke"?

A WHAT!?! It's an old saying from the stone age where shysters would try to sell a hunk of pork in a sack except rat and cat was easier to come by than pork. Everywhere I look is people selling Steemit as making money. Can you make money? YES but without getting into to much of the details here is a link where a friend explains it better than I can

The main reason for me coming here was to get away from facebook and the willy, nillly way they would load my news feed. Not to mention dropping or hiding some post and even whole threads. You can still go there and hit the reload button getting a different feed every time. To me the real pork (gem) here on Steemit is our feed and list of followers. I check my feed button several times a day . I love getting to know new people from all walks of life . Yes even if we never do meet. Connecting people to people is IMO the single best feature of the internet. Another feature I use often here is the unfollow button. If you just post links with not even a snipit of content or if you go down the path of off color posting and commenting then your gone.

I guess I should also add a rant. It wouldn't be a true social media post without just one. Mine is the Bots. Most of the ones we see are the dumb ones and easy enough to ignore. The conspiraist in me wonders about the smart or unseen ones. One new feature I would like is have a way to filter the re-steem bots out of my feed. Maybe it's just off day for the ones who I follow but I really had to look hard to find the organic post.

OH YEAH....there's still the new in the introduce yourself hash tag feed to find new friends!
