Wonder if any Steemians share similar experiences…
"When you live past mid-40s, no matter how hard you try not to think of it,
your body will not lie...." such remarks were repeatedly given by kind
souls who wanted to caution me of what may come. Being an active
person when I was younger and who does not fall ill easily, I would laugh it off and such thoughts are far from my mind......
When I heard little cracking sounds coming from my knee joints, I dismissed it off as stiff joints before my warm up exercise. Only when my gym instructor cautioned me and advised me to seek medical consultation, then did I come to realise that it was due to my worn cartilage. The three words “……..due to aging…” from the specialist hit me hard and I then understood the advice by my kind friends.
I can feel young at heart and think young but my body will show signs of wear and tear, I will have to learn to listen to my body and adapt.
But then take heart, there are still many activities we can do and still enjoy a good quality life!
Continue to enjoy the things you like to do and avoid high impact strenuous activities that could add stress and strain your joints. You can try aqua-aerobics, Tai chi, yoga and low impact activities & even dancing and singing.
Well so much talking…you may ask “Hey, what did you take up?”
Hahaha…yeah you are right….I just had my third lesson at Tai Chi. Frankly, the right posture that I learnt did not hurt my knee joint a bit.
Wish me luck to be motivated to continue to master the fluidity and strength of this martial art!
