The world according to youtube (its probably american)

in janesonderground •  3 years ago  (edited)

Weve been trying to move away from youtube for everything thats not stream/mainstream social media, not just for the EU regulations fucking up sites design and what not

but this one caught me

we usually put all vids, wether they be wip or not at "not for children" , its easier and just in case (you know in some countries women get beaten to death for showing an ankle thats not covered and other funny stuff thats no longer important b/c theres A WAR (the others are gone)

but youtube labelled this one 18+ and over only by itself

now we would invite you to look at it

its like "a black screen"

we filed a thing there so many days ago buts its still listed as that

just cuz its funny like and as they say on the moral majority thing "well that must be american"

thought id mention it, have been gaming while the world is getting better, i think by next week bread will be down to 40 francs again and you can get a beer for half that while the wage went up ANOTHER 0.01% !

its not like we need youtube b/c in soviet helgium streaming or anything else that makes you 1 cent or more on purpose (as in "not a donation" ) is legally "providing a service", which means you need a business license, which means you need like 50k to stay safe for 2 years so you dont end up in debt, which means about 10 years for the baas if you dont spend too much on stupid shit like rent and eating

unless you can get a loan, but i never heard of anyone getting one to "be a youtuber" or even to "do a video game"

here ?

dat is niet weirken

but thats not the point

the point is : "this is 18+"

i wonder who came up with 18 too btw

but you can drive cars from 16, right ? (not here though)

and in japan alcohol is from 21 ?

(not here though)

?

nevermind

the last demo /intro was already shown i think ?

i bet thats not too much on an amigo or any pc running AGK/dark basic

on the 64 its like that one line is euhm

"problem solving"

that was pretty interesting

its an actual rasterline in AND outside, no sprites or characters or bitmapmode involved , theres probably some cheap trick to it other than switching the irq to another line every single line and adapting for (they call it dirty lines i read) the lazy line and the downright rotten line you get every "character-pixel" (hard to say if you dont know that machines innards i suppose) where the downright rotten line actually leaves no time to save registers so whatevers in the mainloop cant be allowed to be infected by the intterupt

so there's likely a trick that does it all-in-one instead of several routines depending on what line and if its in/out - out only or in/out-clean in/out-messed up

but we found it more interesting to do it from scratch

:-)

thats all

as for the rest

it seems to be impossible to explain belgium to americans, chinese, canadians, vietnamese and ... (so on) but french or english or dutch folk might get some of it

even the scandinavians who are SO heavily taxed actually have a completely different country for it - this is just the fruitpress so we stopped explaining and since the world started falling apart for real we decided not to care too much and leave out news and politics

sitting down too long hurts so we probably get back to lightweight afternoon tea coding fast but

HEY, i bet there's footbal

and tomorrowland !

so, whats the problem ?

aaah

just do it ? well you know how the tax man can see all your bank accounts AND whats in it, all transactions

without any kind of warrant ?

(or maybe not where you live)

now they have a law where they can go over all your phonestuff too

its very soviet

so please ...

dont "assume"

this IS belgium :)

but in most parts you cant get a cryptowallet on any exchange without fingerprinted id cards and selfies either, its been like that for years (maybe not where you live)

they wonder why the economy isnt taking off

just like how come crypto is as flat as it since the imf and jp demon-morgan touched it with wolfstreet

how is that possible ?

see ?

this all leads to bad-speak

and what you want is good-speak

hmm, it woke us up at exactly ten again. Something in house rose-white still lives in the days when you could knock doors for jobs and houses were built by a bunch of drunk guys (and for some reason the ones from the 50s are actually mostly still pretty sturdy and last longer than later ones ... ) and the time before the early bird got eaten by the cat who staid up all night and then slept all day, well-fed, to have a quiet night without humans interrupting.

It keeps doing that, and the timing is exact , as well as that milla movie with the 1:11, 3:33 and 5:55 ... something subconscious im sure

so we have great headache, brainfog, right eye-sore and painful back from lack of second sleep phase and the day is as good as dead until the next one

points were made though and most of them true :

  • an 8bit machine can only count to 255 and there's at least 310 (320 or something) visible lines on screen, so starting the bottom you need to have ANOTHER switch (also timing that doesnt include an innerscreenline) that takes into account the setting of two memory locations ... its built like that and you have several conditions, ML is new (well, like kcs powercartridge-new since the kid did alter stuff with that thing) so its checking out the map of the piano, i think one of them is sprite collisions (that machine has hardware sprites - not something most people will give a thought i suppose) and usually the interrupts are set to check for keypresses and run the 'basic' operating system and all that so those need to be disabled, which all adds an extra layer of complexity to "run 1 line across screen in Y+ direction (using inner and outer border, also something that i dont know exists even on all older machines)

where in neo-basic you go something like

for liney = 0 to screenres_y-height

drawline 0,liney,screenres_x-width,liney

next

(sync() or whatever is used for frame separation)

it really takes a little more though still thats put into 2048bytes (including the peTV-set and the pschchchch sound)
though MAYBE if using relative zeropage (indirect i think is the word) addressing from a table it might be possible to save more space - packing is not our job

THOUGH IT USED TO BE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

at least in a few places like tupperware and belcolade ... you never understand packing until you lift 20kg chocolate pellets bags on palets for 8 hours in a row for €10 an hour

thank the gods this was a rich country

  • the other point that was made, is also true : if you , somehow, found a weird dystopian alice in wonderland bank in belgium that said : You want a loan thats not for a house or a car to buy from the boss? SURE here's 50k, then technically if you dont succeed either, at the end you owe 50 to the state AND 50 + INTREST to the bank

which is actually worse

:)

k ?

my back hurts

...

yea so - "just try" and "try"

since my ambition has always been sitting here broken waiting for the world to collapse im doing pretty fine actually

or else if my worst nightmare was being stuck in belgium past 40 , i would be living a nightmare for years now

just saying - always this always that and it never seems to get through

there's this thing here called cultuurloket (and im not getting into how i got into the state that kaputt and twisted that is we now - even not the last years of "work from home is impossible up until 30 days before corona but by then i was already labelled "defunct" ... and id say not a minute too late but actually YEARS too late - all they ever do is damage - that goes for most of the "just do it" people to since they cant seem to grasp things, i wonder how they deal with someone who lives in some favella or ghost town in south africa

or maybe even flint or chicage in the muricans

"just do it" ?

they might take you up on that
HAHAH

(ahem)

so its there and euh i asked around for whats referred to as "an artists visa" (its as weird as it sounds but they dont officially call it that) and after a lot of mailing (those people really ARE helpful, and if you need to wade through belgian law you NEED them ... or else you got daddymoney and lawyers and bookkeepers you were born with together with the butler and the maid, then you DONT need them - i dont know too many who started up (mostly construction, outdoors or gardening without a little push from dad, ... like donald trump got , only probably two zeroes smaller or somethign) after a LOT
the conclusion which , not with so many words in their words, was : you can get that if you have been working off the books for years and want to regulate it , people who do odd jobs in acting and whatever they can get for instance, THAT WAY you're no longer a taxorist

so there's nothing visum to it : it doesnt mean "if you can sell something thats nice and if you dont you dont have to pay the upfront costs to the feudal lords"

nothing of that so the guy back then literally said too : if its a donation its okay

so i seen some ppl here (and in plenty other places)
who think im having an act about all that or joking

and im REALLY done complaining about it and raving and explaining

but since points were made, YES

thats true too

now

the world is ending and it wont fix within my lifetime unless i get to be 90 or a 100 in which case i doubt ill be moving out of belgium ANYWAY

so i have a lot less stress

but the house ghosts and pavlov gnome ever since i got stuck back here keep doing it

does that sound crazy to you ?

well then ?

what have i been trying to communicate about that ?

why would i "act" about that ?

because the girls love it ?

i gotta go lie down and im gonna hide the keyboard for a few days

aah - another point has been made and sadly yes, if this were a lecture we would stand corrected : in the "if this were some kind of neo-basic" example the "draw the currently constructed frame" command or magic function would probably have to be within the loop or else it would only draw the last line or nothing at all but that depends probably greatly on which basic you would be using -

but its not a lecture or otherwise we probably would have come prepared since it were paid , and that wont happen in this life anymore

so yes, and ofcourse

we want to add the .asm source to the .d64 / .item file (how the site is constructed really : just add a filecard in a folder and the site/page will pick it up when someone requests that page) no wordpress, wordpress is the enemy of coding

but thats already not the machine

if C would be a levl 1 language then i guess asm would be 0.5 above machine language but in essence (what we used so far was cbmprgstudio) its pretty visual ...

you get labels for function names which represent routines at certain adressesses (which you dont really have to bother with) and we got huge "header" file with ten ton labels for numbers used frequently like the notorious d018 or D020 , 02, 03 ,fb etc ... 0400 D800 ... all have nice readable names within the assembler suite there so it kinda looks like ... i dont know

not machine language , data comes in nice lines with "byte" or "text" before it, its very readable and afterwards the compiler just puts it all in the right place, if you want to fit it in "exactly 1024b" or something then you might have to twist a little

like the second one with the small sid tune has code before and after the tune, b/c the tune was made to run at a specific loc so some of the prep jumps to and for around it all to fit it in 2048b

and if this sounds to you like talk about cars or football sounds to me

that means theres some diversity left

... but yea, the sync or requestanimation or whatever renders the frame to the back and blits it (not sure if thats the word today) to the front should be in the loop b/c the screen gets cleared before it (usually)

true

now

...

for some reason i feel worse than when i got up

and i justed wanted to display the youble a.i.'s idea of 18+

but ofcourse, more came out

yesterday someone else tried to pull the cork out, DESPITE ALL WARNINGS

and something else came out

maybe thats what wore me out

WHICH ... (talking in brackets, because the middle one finished first as it interrupted the one i was on)

comes down to a whole lot more filesize (ofcourse, talking here is a whole machine that has 64kb and floppies as medium which have like a size of about 180kb - - - you can not "add 16gb" to make it run better)

but none of that gets included in the final program, thats just ones and zeroes but mostly read as hexadecimal in a monitor

and translated opcodes (without labels or macronames)

if you take in the macro-file , which starts to develop together with the header file (you can re-use those two across all "prods" projects ... we call it programs ... thats vintage, like rolls royce ...) it becomes even bigger, and if you leave those in that code WILL be part of the program it just reads nice in your main .asm file

like if you have a routine that displays an 8-or-16bit number as a decimal number somewhere on the screen you write a small "sort of " magic function and give it a nice name like "hec2dec,hi,lo,scradr" and it will take that with the parameters turn it into the code and put it in your program instead of the function names, since this is not scripted the code will be there after the program loads, its not php where everything disappears (or moves to cache) after execution

where hi an lo is what you need for numbers bigger than 255

you could probably teach a whole year of core level programming just from this thing and its memory map

but i bet thats considered waste of time today since

"the a.i. will do that for you"

someone remember who wrote the a.i. ?

like that time when the americans had to retro-engineer a part of one of their bombers (think bombers might be fighterjet)

because no one had the plans and knew who designed it ?

(thats no joke ...)

so in the end even after only three small programs its already like developing its own programming language with the labelnames and macro (quasi magic functions)

OMOSHIROI

whats on your head ?

ache i shouldnt be sitting here

....ssaaaa

seriously

Luke, i am not your teacher

god damn man i dont have a hischool degree okay , im not allowed even if i would want to and theres ache on my head

besides, i doubt any of this is useless for the generation you try to breed out of what you bred last time (you know with the "these kids have no initiative"-bug you complained about ?

but i also wonder who is gonna write the tools that do the coding for them AFTER them ?

is crotter keeping people in cryostasis somewhere under langley mountain ?

it goes on so, for instance the second one there we tried to do one rasterline each but in one irq call

which didnt work but there was no "you did not tab twice in line 10 error", it just "sometimes started", sometimes not

as it turns out the code under the routine that got called was WAY too long to fit within one screen

at 100k instructions per second

should be cycles ?

with a NOP (no instruction) costing 2 cycles on a call thats 1/50th of a second, you dont actually have time to draw the mona lisa in between

nothing wipes your panties, thats why omoshirio, take it a little further to multitasking (i still dont believe thats real multitasking since at some point its gonna sit waiting on a crossroads and handle it fifo or "by relevance" depending on hardware and year of make

and you have to start reserving memory, or else one process could take the other ones since YOU dont tell it WHERE it does what anymore

actually nASM (the only one on pc i looked at) does not write to the hardware, it writes to the OS

so on the exact same machine you need a different one for windows than you do for linux

and windows used to be famous for its leakage ...

i wonder what changed :)

i bet "the A.I. now does that for you"

... right ? before i start seeing blue aliens who arent pretty enough to marry
