Filling up the city

in janesonderground •  2 years ago

Despite the end of the world nearing and the cvs getting worse. It feels like a struggle to keep walking around after 2 hours but i already sleep twice a day (otherwise i simply cant hold it) we try to keep busy ... ofcourse if all that happens is mopping the floor and doing the dishes there is no mental de-stress ...

On and off "the game" (that will REALLY LIKELE NOW never be) trying to fill 5x5km of "commercial district" for one of the cities (we was thinking big when we wrote the site that was to be a blockchain interface to use steem down to 8sats as currency in the then-game , and found out later someone had flagged the site (at national level) as a phishing site - without any notice or warning ... even better than harassment suits hey ... and then they go like "BUT YOU HAVE TO TRY")
o well

the climate will remind them they were looking in the wrong direction so karma is good

but how to fill that, a city like ur had maybe 50.000 - 80.000 people but the surface was pretty small

compared to this one that has 10x10km , we calculated from how the housing is placed in the residential district that we can fit 30.000 citizens in there , thats citizens ofcourse , there's more than that passing through a city or you end up with a belgian economy where 50% of the country is paid by the state, taxed on that money and that money is used to pay everyone who works for the state (you can (or cant maybe i dont know) see how , for lack of perpetuum mobile in this universe and total entropy in all systems from the mastersystem down, theres a small flaw in that)

so ... the roman coliseaum and circus maximus together wouldnt even fill 1/12th (we dived in 4x4 for easy) , but if you add markets and relevant stuff around it you get somewhere and then finally

we been there once (well twice that week)

montmartre !

You would think in 2022 if you need a heightmap of any place on the planet you just google it

wrong ...

you can get topographic data on most places but a heightmap for a 3D engine isnt really made of all colors of the rainbow

You cant just "convert to greyscale b/c you get height levels in 3 then Red Blue Green

one "trick" seems to de to use gimp to decompose and pick one of the layers but still it puts dark spots on the highest point (where the sacré couer stands irl, where we place the temple of Nepthi ingame)

So it ends up something usable but one of the problems with unigine is that if you edit in-editor and you reimport any map at all all manually edited data gets discarded and reset (its a bit of a small jar of pickels often)

Also, to get realtime topographic data directly in the engine you need to have a paid sub . Ofcourse since we are poor people thats not an option

but it looks "something" like this

something to work with

more news by 2150 ... the heatwave looks like it will last until it ate some forests and then the question is do we get pepinstere part 2 ? (you wake up and your street has sunk into the earth ...)

I see square enix lives in disneyland. Charging €80 for a 25th remake of final fantasy vii , something i played with a friend on the ps .. (2? 3??) 25 years ago

we think thats why belgium lost to the dutch webshops, dutchees sell ten items for 11% each so they end up with 110%

belgians put the prices up tennex and then complain about piracy

(something like that)

any who

... if you mcdonalds you can buy it voor de baas, im sure its only €80 ... (???)

right

then
