An authentic recreation of a 17th century Japanese castle will be starting in Nagoya

The castle stands currently is a concrete-builld but it will be an authentic recreation of a 17th century Japanese castle in Edo period when completed the project.

50.4 billion yen supplementary budget bill to reconstruct the donjon (main tower) of the Nagoya castle passed the city council with an overwhelming majority is its favor 23rd March 2017.

The project is to build a castle using only the techniques and materials used in 17th century and this is the first time in Japan a challenge to reconstruct a wooden structure which is designated as one of the important historical sites in the country.

The city is aiming to complete its project by the end of 2022.
The completion date was postponed from the original date which was July 2020 the time of Tokyo Olympics.

The restoration project is aiming to restore as accurately as possible.
But at the same time, it needs the solid foundations against earthquakes for providing safety for visitors.

Once its completed, it should be an authentic recreation of a 17th century Japanese castle in Edo period.
