I am a Japanese person in my 30s living in Japan.
Starting today, I plan to casually write about my life in Japan.
About the city I live in and my family
I currently live in a place called Yokohama, which is about a 30-minute train ride from Shibuya (Tokyo). The area near the station is moderately bustling, with many parks, making it suitable for families. Indeed, many families live around here, and despite the declining birthrate in Japan, the number of children is relatively high here.
My family consists of my wife and my three-year-old son. I used to work as a software engineer and engineering manager, but now I am in the process of starting a business related to Web3.
Introducing Aoba Ward, Yokohama City
Today, I will introduce Aoba Ward in Yokohama City, where I live. It is about a 30-minute train ride to Shibuya from here. The area near the station is bustling, but as you move away from the station, it is not uncommon to see fields spread out, making it a city that feels like a mix of the countryside and the city.
While living in the 23 wards of Tokyo, you hardly need a car because the trains and subways are well developed, but it is better to have one in this area. Additionally, the standard residence here is a detached house, and you can buy a house with one more room and a parking space for about the same price as an average apartment in the 23 wards of Tokyo.
