Today 2/3 is a true Japanese culture【節分(Setsubun)】is held.

日本の悪魔は【鬼(oni)】と呼ばれています。
その鬼を追い払う行事が節分です。

Setsubun is an event to repel oni.

節分は鬼を祓い、良い運を呼び寄せるための行事です。

節分は季節が変わる時期という意味です。
その起源はとても古く、驚くことに千年前から始まったと言われています。

千年前は【陰陽師(onmyouji)】と呼ばれる日本のシャーマンが年末に邪気を祓う行事を行っていました。

しかし時代が経つにつれてその形は少しずつ変わっていき、庶民の間で豆を使って行われるようになりました。

Setsubun is an event to pursue oni and attract good luck.

Setsubun means the time when the season changes.
Its origins are very old, and it is surprisingly said that it began a thousand years ago.

A thousand years ago, a Japanese shaman called 【陰陽師(Onmyouji)】was carrying out events to pursue evil at the end of the year.

As time passed, however, the shape gradually changed, and it became common among people to use beans.

豆は(鬼を撃退する)という意味を込めて使われるようになりました。
さらに健康と平和を願って自分の年齢と同じ数の豆を食べます。

家庭では大人が【鬼(oni)】のマスクをつけて鬼の役を演じます。
そして子供が豆を投げる役をします。

そうして子供が健康に成長するよう願うのです。

Beans started to be used with the meaning of repelling oni.
I also eat the same number of beans as my age in hopes of health and peace.

At home, adults play the role of oni with a mask of Oni.
And the child acts to throw beans.

And I wish the child to grow healthy.

さらに神社でも節分は行われています。

場所によってはとても大きなイベントとして盛り上がっています。

Setsubun is done even at the Jinja.

Depending on the location, it is exciting as a very big event

そして豆を投げる時には
「鬼は外！福は内！」と言って投げるのが習わしです。

And when throwing beans it is the rule to say "oni are outside! come Luck!"

私は昨日の投稿に書いた恵方巻のような嘘の日本文化ではなく
千年続く本当の日本文化である節分が愛され続けることを願っています。

この素晴らしいイベントは毎年2月3日に各神社で行われているので
日本に遊びに来る際はぜひ参加してみてください。
