How to Write the Kanji for Tree or Wood: Step-by-step

Hey there!

This is a continuation of the kanji tutorials for the elements. I finally had the time to draw some kanji and get them posted.. 'will do the post one by one later :)

Kanji for Tree/Wood

  • Firstly, draw a straight line across the paper from left to right. This is the first stroke.

  • Secondly, draw a vertical line on the center of the first stroke forming it like a cross. This is the second stroke.

  • Thirdly, from the intersection of the first and second strokes draw a curve line facing outside with the bottom tip a little bit thinner.

  • Lastly, draw a curve line also facing outside with the top tip a little bit thinner than the bottom from the intersections of the first and second stroke.

Meaning: Tree, Wood
Onyomi: Boku/Moku
Kunyomi: Ki/Ko

TRIVIA: It looks like a tree.
