I have been thinking a lot about the names of candies lately and wondering how they got their names that we know and love and the Jelly bean has been eluding me.... clearly they are little candied beans, so that part makes perfect sense to me but I do not understand the jelly part??? They don't have jelly inside, so I was thinking maybe it is because the originals were made out of a fruit flavored candy jelly of some sort that put into molds? But I dont know for sure, so tonight I am diving deep into the history of candy online and especially the nomenclature.
Bean sized, Bean Shaped, But no Jelly??? The secret of the Jelly Beans.
