I just saw Jesse Watters right now on Fox. Anyone else see that?
I just don’t get this kind of television. I won’t recount the whole thing because it would be tedious, but almost every single thing out of his mouth, and out of the mouth of the person he was interviewing, isn’t just false, it’s so obviously specious it looks like a comedy skit.
I’m not even talking about any difference of opinion I might have about facts. The logical structure of what’s being claimed doesn’t make any sense. For example, Jesse considers the assertion that there isn’t an immigrant crime wave and he supposedly refutes that (with snarky crinky side comments along the way) by citing to five specific counter examples of individual instances.
The segment after the commercial break was sensationalist video of a suspect fleeing the police, which, as far as I can tell, serves no purpose as “news“ except to illustrate that there are desperate crazy people out there with bad judgment.
I don’t think that was ever in dispute? In any case, again it is one individual incident that has no bearing on any broader national discussion or interesting idea.
Whatever your view of politics, or what the information might be, I just don’t understand what’s going on in the mind of somebody who finds this appealing. How can somebody be curious enough about the world and intelligent enough to be interested in current events and geopolitical issues, and yet be so profoundly stupid (I don’t mean to be unkind, but I can’t think of any other word for it), that this kind of thing is tolerable, let alone appealing?
You need to have some kind of major malfunction to enjoy or value watching this.
Admittedly, I was super annoyed with CNN yesterday. Over the span of five minutes Wolf Blitzer asserted his personal editorial comments inside the middle of discussion of news events. I think under current management they’ve been encouraged to do that, regrettably. But it’s completely night and day. My criticisms of CNN at least are in the ballpark of feedback on the news coverage. Fox is like some bizarro world show where drunk goofballs took over the studio.
