The peace is a fruit of the spirit, that is to say, it is a goal of human life like the happiness and the joy: "love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness,faithfulness, gentleness, self-control", Galatians 5:22-23. The peace is not a virtue, is a perfection of God, the peace is a spiritual gift.
We cannot obtain a spiritual gift practicing a virtue. We cannot achieve peace through justice, because justice is not a way, is not progressive.
Thomas Aquinas explains that there is a corresponde between spiritual gifts and beatitudes. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God", Matthew 5:9, this beatitude corresponds to the spiritual gift of wisdom.
The peace comes from order, and the order of wisdom. The acquisition and practice of wisdom is the origine of peace. There are two kinds of wisdom, because there are two ways: reason and intuition.
The wisdom as spiritual gift is the love for the virtue and the truth, the wisdom as science is the knowledge of the correct means to live.
An example of peacemaker is the King Solomon, who with his wisdom stabished peace, the peacemaker by excellence is the wise. "Corresponds to the wise to order", explains Aristotle.
A practical way in which the wise order is through the spiritual gift of counsel: listen (perceive with attention), meditate with intuition and inspiration, decide with discernment and creativity.
Wisdom makes us like God, God is the wisdom itselft. Talk about wisdom is talk about God. The similar seeks the similar: "God loves nothing so much as the person who lives with wisdom", Wisdom 7:28. Just as the tree is with his branches, so is God with those who are wise. This beatitude reminds us to be wise as God is wise, to order and pacify the creation. Peace is not only with oneself but is also with God and the neighbor.
The beatitude explain to us the prize, the award of "order": "for they will be called children of god".
To be "son of God" means good fame, peacemakers share their fame with God, that is his glory, the glory is the perfect and immortal fame.
