The beatitudes on the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5:3-10, are resume in the teaching: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48.
The beatitudes are spiritual gifts, they are 8 in total, the 8 is the number of God and represents the spiritual perfection. God is the perfection itself, God is the wisdom itself, and his gifts are perfections. We cannot attribute imperfections to God like the sin or the error.
Being children of God means seeking God's perfections, his piety, his mercy, his perseverance, his wisdom: "Be perfect", reminds to us Jesus. This is the most direct message from the kingdom of God: "The kingdom of God is already among you", Luke 17:21, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well", Matthew 6:33.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:48 to live the spiritual gifts: "Be perfect", that is to say, to search the correct and the best, the correct for the spiritual gift of prophecy and the best for the piety; to acquire wisdom, retain it and put it into practice with constancy ( spiritual gift of piety) as is explained in the parable of the sower, Matthew 13; to be progressive (the gifts are way), to be precise and exact (the gifts are truth) and to increase life, "I am the way, the truth and the life" John 14:6.
The kingdom of God is the dominion, govern, reign, empire of the divine perfections, entering the kingdom of god means making an inner step, from a life full of sins to a life of righteousness: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", Matthew 7:12.
We have to choose between the good and the evil, between God and money, between the flesh and the spirit: "No one can serve two masters", Matthew 6:24.
When we enter the kingdom of god we understand the true meaning of life: increase the order and perfection of the universe, in practical terms, increase the spiritual gifts and the bliss, as Jesus teaches in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25): we are judged by God by our ranking of mercy, piety, perseverance.
The kingdom of God is fundamentally an ethical doctrine, the "man" becomes "son of god", and theological, "God" becomes "son of man".
