Jesus speaks to us of concord, of unity in the spirit: "That all of them may be one Father, just as you are in me and I am in you", John 17:21.

This is so because the spirit carries within itself, the well-being of the soul with itself. When the soul is united to the spirit, the soul is a unit in itself. And this can be understood in another way, the sin divides the soul, between reason and passion. The truth unites, falsehood divides.
The spiritual gift of concord is the unity of those who are perfect in spirit: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48. This unity of the spirit begins with a question and a promise: "Jesus said to Simon Peter: Simon, son of John, do you Agape me more than these? Yes, Lord, you know that I philia you", John 21:15-16. Agape is the love of unity, philia is the love that comes from the pleasure of seeing ourselves reflected in the others. Then Jesus promises the Agape, the unity in spirit, to the disciples: "everyone will be salted with fire" Mark 9:49
Just as the nature of the worm is the butterfly, and just as the seed tends to the tree that bears fruit, the nature of man tends to unity with God, the unity of spirit: the concord and the communion.
The disciples receive the unity in Pentecost:
"When the day of Pentecost came, they where all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them". Acts 2:1-4
It is then, from Pentecost that the disciples live in communion:
"All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had" Acts 4:3
The teaching of jesus in john 17:21, is the realization of the kingdom of god among men, the kingdom of God is the empire, the dominion, the reign of the qualities of God: the govern of the mercy, of the piety, of the perseverance. The spirit in the bible is the desire for the good, the desire for happiness unites men to the flesh.
