The teachings of Jesus: Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13:17

The Gospel of John narrates in a different way the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. John describes the washing of the feet to the disciples, as the central moment of the farewell of Jesus before being handed over. Jesus with this example teaches us that true happiness does not lie in the possession of material goods but in an attitude of humility, mercy and service to others:
"When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. ´Do you understand what I have done for you?´he asked them. You call me ´Teacher´ and ´Lord´, and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.", John 13:12-17.

Jesus explains to us with his example and his teachings that happiness cannot be based on the search for apparent goods such as power and money, Jesus exposes false happiness in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Luke with the 4 curses (Luke 6:24-26). Aristotle in his book Politics, when describing the regime of the oligarchy, says: "From the search for false goods, a true evil will sometime come."
About true beatitude Jesus teaches us: "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.", Luke 11:28; and also: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" in Matthew 5:3.
Those who want to enter the Kingdom of God and know true blessedness must become the last and servant of others, expressed in another way, the one who leads must lead by example: "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.", Mark 9:35.
