I really liked this post, and I agree Jesus has been watered down to a Hallmark Card many times.
I don't agree he is a terrorist though.
Here is the definition of terrorism from dictionary.com
the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially forpolitical purposes.
Jesus did cleanse the temple, but did not advocate violence. Judas may have hoped to push Jesus to violence by betraying him, but the opposite happened. Jesus submitted himself to torture and death, right after rebuking Peter for drawing his sword.
Jesus was also non-political. He paid his taxes to Caesar, and the Romans clearly did not see him as a threat.
Just my two cents, thanks for a thought provoking post.
thanks, historian are still evaluating many things, but saying he's a terrorist is provocative, yet it's to draw attention that Jesus was subversive to the culture of his time, he was a "leftist", he was a "socialist" in a sense, and there are interpretations his message was growing more radical. i think the point is that those that challenge the system which is impure and corrupt or oppressive will be marginalized by the powers that be, and the effective and persistent propaganda that tells us not to empower the disenfranchised and demonize those fighting for just treatment.
