Jesus and the Ojibwe word "Giizis"

When the British and French and Spanish explorers landed on our shores with stories of Jesus the Son of God and his 12 disciples we understood that they were saying "Giizis the sun of God " and the 12 moons/months also called giizis. We understood Giizis as the Creator of the Universe the Great Gitchee Manitou, the Great Mystery who gives life through the power of the sun... so we had no problems worshipping this Name that travelled across the waters and arrived on Turtle Island as the Word "Jesus"
