The effects of Steemfest3 are lingering... sure - the videos, photos and blogs abound & I’m certainly enjoying all the content bouncing around on the blockchain... BUT, I’m still a bit of a zombie from the 7 time zone jump.
When I was in residency training, I experienced quite a lot of shift work and schedule changes in the hospital setting... I didn’t like it... AT ALL. But, it was required by my institution, there were people who needed my help... and I WAS 15 YEARS YOUNGER... Damn!
After jumping 7 time zones, I am experiencing “Circadian Desynchrony”... aka “Jet Lag. Now... I’m normally an early riser, but this is ridiculous... I’ve been waking with a headache and a stiff neck at 0200, 0300, etc... Today, after considerable effort, I remained in bed until 0400! Woohoo!
Apparently, there’s been some decent research on it, but I doubt folks will worry about it too much, because it IS self-limited, and usually resolves in a few days... up to a week or so (If I’m in this group, I’ll just head back to Europe, I guess!)

What to do about it? Prevention... treatment...
Mini Bottles?
Caffeine?
So... alcohol is not the best pre-medication, and caffeine must be used intentionally (not indiscriminately, as I’m wont to do)... I’m left with:
- light therapy (wth? - It’s not like I’m sittin’ ‘round in the dark during the day... who writes these research papers!?!?)
- melatonin (no one agrees on the dose...)
- waiting it out (Patience - 1; bimjer - 0)
- heading back to Europe (I still have a few Euros in my wallet... just sayin’. I might be dropping you @ddaily guys a line...)
