The great job hunt 2018

in jobhunt •  7 years ago

Hey Steemians,

I've been a little more absent than usual this past week which is a little odd as I've had all the time in the world. The job hunt in firmly in progress but seems to be going at a snails pace.

It's probably not going as slow as I think but I'm very impatient, it has been some 18 years since I had to use the open job market and like everything else it's like dealing with a machine.

My ultimate desire when we moved to Middle Earth (Nofolk) was to find something closer to home but alas those opportunities at the right rate seem to be far and few between. I'm therefore having to move further afield and essentially contemplate going to wherever the work is. Not a nice thought but something I'm having to come to terms with. Hopefully with the advent of flexible working in the UK not too long ago I'll find something in the middle but time will tell.

The uncertainty is quite difficult, isn't it? What would your company do, if you set one up?

I don't deal with uncertainty well at all but have been a little more relaxed these past few days. My background is IT Operation, Service Management and Project Management so I hope to contract in those areas if I can.

I'll be looking soon too, but not until next month.

I've gone into panic mode as the resources wont last that long. Only have a decent lead but that's 200 miles away but the compensation should make it worth our while for 6 months of working away.

Will get my head around it when we have a little more security - I've historically been very risk adverse so this is completely against my nature. Spent my evening so far reading about setting up a ltd company - delightful reading.

That's what I do, run a Ltd co., and contract my services out to whoever will pay my demands!
It usually entails working away.

I hope there's something ideal out there for you. Depends on how long you can wait.
