What takes to Immigrate or Launch an International Career: Self Dimensional Analysis

in jobs •  7 years ago

First, you need to understand the difference between Immigrating vs an International Career: They are quite different ways of getting out of current job markets.

  • Immigration requires you to leave your Country of Residence for another with probable intentions of not coming back. It will require to get a Temporary Resident Status and a Work Permit, which may not be very easy in most cases. And having both does not guarantee you will get a Job: You still have to search and compete with other immigrants and/or nationals.

No Country will immigrate you. You have to do it yourself. You have to plan and take action. You will have to compete with other immigrants and/or nationals. You need hard currency to immigrate and survive the first 3/6 months.

  • International Career is another totally different thing. It is highly dependent on you being bilingual and have a STEM Degree usually in Engineering with at least 5 years experience in a given specialty. Sometimes, First Line Managers or other specialized professionals may have international potential as markets confront scarcities.

Either you are Immigrating or pursuing an International Career, a Self Dimensional Analysis must be made to properly understand yourself, your career, the impact on your immediate family, and strategic mistakes.

There are 4 critical dimensions to be considered:

  • Market Optics: Understand Global Markets Dynamics, Tools available for running the search and your own Frame of Mind & Barriers: Wrong Social/Cultural beliefs in your head may lead you into trouble.

  • Decision Making after careful Market Analysis and Intelligence Collection.

  • Project execution: Understanding each of the 6 modules of my Job Search Methodology.

You need to think global and in terms of rings: Your First Ring is where you live or work, the Second Ring is all of those Countries around your. The Third Ring is the Whole World International Markets.

Miths:

  • Recruiters & Headhunters never assume the responsibility of defining what you are or what you want nor to find possible career paths/opportunities for you.
    That is your accountability

Challenges:

  • Whithout a clear self understanding of who you are and what you want, your search is doomed.

  • To execute a successful Job Search: be Local, Regional, Immigration or Expatriation to any given Country, Region of the World International Job Markets in which a Talent war exists (be for scarcity, economic growth, population getting too older or having no replacements) you must have a Methodology & Process about how to Analyze the Markets, Functions and Industries,

  • Define course of action, Plan objetives, Organize search and Execute Applications and Referrals connections.
