The book of Genesis tells us about the life of Joseph, one of the sons of the patriarch Jacob. Joseph was not a prophet like Moses, Daniel, or Isaiah, Joseph was a person with the ability to interpret dreams, and he was also an example of what it means to live the gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion), despite all the difficulties Joseph managed to achieve beatitude.
In the life of Joseph many proverbs and sayings of wisdom were fulfilled, Joseph through the Providence of God changed the sins of his enemies into a great good, by saving the Egyptian people from hunger.
Joseph, due to the envy of his brothers, was sold as a slave and taken to Egypt, but Joseph, thanks to his intelligence, managed to reach the Pharaoh's court where he interpreted a difficult dream. Joseph not only interpreted the pharaoh's dream but also revealed the future and what was hidden of God, Joseph by the Pharaoh was appointed vizier, the second in command in the Kingdom of Egypt.
Thus the Bible tells us that as an official of the Pharaoh, Joseph accumulated a large amount of grain because for 7 years the harvests were very abundant. And after the years of plenty began the years of scarcity.
During the lean years the Pharaoh had grain and Joseph opened the granaries, with which Pharaoh became the owner of almost all the properties of Egypt. Joseph's family who lived in Canaan, his father Jacob with his brothers, was able to supply not only grain in Egypt, because the famine in Canaan was great, but also to settle in the region of Goshen.
When Jacob died, Joseph showed great wisdom, forgiving all his brothers for the sin they had committed with him. Joseph shows us in the Bible that forgiveness not only blesses the one who gives it but also the one who receives it:
"His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. ´We are your slaves,´ they said.
But Joseph said to them, ´Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.´ And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them" Genesis 50:18-21.
