Herbststürme brausen, grau das Himmelszelt, wir harren und hausen in unsrer dunklen Welt.
Kein Wettersturm ist uns zu hart; wir sind von Nordlands Art!
Hat der Julmond Schnee gebracht, freuen wir uns dieser Pracht.
Hei, frisch die Schneeschuh angeschnallt, uns ist kein Schnee zu kalt;
Schneestürme brausen über Wald und Feld,
wir schlittern und sausen durch unsre weiße Welt.
Kein Aufwärts ist zu steil, zu hart, wir sind von Nordlands Art!
Hat die Zeit uns wohlgetan, sehnen wir das Fest heran,
die Sonnenwend mit neuem Licht, das hell ins Finstre bricht:
Lichter erhellen jedes deutsche Haus, wo wir uns gesellen,
bei Wetter, Sturm und Braus, ums heilge Feuer froh geschart,
wir sind von Nordlands Art!
When the autumn wind whistles through the land, mountain and valley are already rippered, then with joyful sense, our hearts turn towards Jule time:
Autumn storms are brewing, grey the sky tent, we persist and dwell in our dark world.
No weather storm is too hard for us; We are of Nordland's children!
Once the Julmond has brought snow, we are delighted with this splendour.
Hei, freshly strapped the snowshoe, no snow is too cold for us;
Snowstorms are brewing across forest and field,
We slither and whizz through our white world.
No upward is too steep, too hard, we are of Nordland's kind!
If time has made us comfortable, we yearn for the feast,
The sun wning with new light that breaks brightly into the Finstre:
Lights illuminate every German house where we join,
In weather, storm and breouse, around healing fire joyful,
We are of Nordland's children!
