Justice Ginsberg has died at the age of 87.
This is monumental regardless of your political position. I disagreed with her on about 70% of issues; but, I can't show her anything but respect. She was able to forge a friendship with Scalia despite political differences.
We should take her as an example. Not necessarily politically; but, as a person who can befriend people across the aisle.
With the passing of Ginsberg, I think it's worth talking about the SCOTUS.
I'm an anarchist; but, I still think that the Supreme Court is the greatest defender of freedom that we have.
I'm not ignorant of the evil decisions like the Kelo case and Dred Scott; but, I'm also not ignorant of the great and bold decisions like Skokie.
If it weren't for the Supreme Court, flag burning would have been illegal for decades now. It's been attacked by Republicans and Democrats alike. It's been defended by the courts.
Democracy unchecked is despotism because most people want despotism.
