Kansas votes on August 2nd on a state constitutional amendment that would explicitly remove the right to an abortion in the state. If polling is accurate this vote should lose handily. Most Kansans are against a total ban on abortion.
The proposed amendment would clarify a 2019 ruling that inferred a right to abortion in the state's constitution. If it passes, then the amendment would explicitly say that a right to abortion isn't guaranteed by the state's constitution.
This vote is especially important as many of Kansas' neighbors are set to ban abortion. It will be an essential safe haven state in the interior US.
