High voltage is fun by comes at a cost to current. As they are inversely related of course.
So how can one achieve a greater amperage without sacrificing voltage.... ?
Pulsing power is one attractive mode and is often used in lasers, printers, ionizers, cathode ray tubes, and many other HV devices.

So,
I just finished building my own 11 stage Marx Generator .... capable of theoretically multiplying input voltages by 11 times (although always less in practice).
This allows me to 10 fold already high voltages fed by numerous strategies, including coil based like flybacks or NSTs, or solid state like CW multipliers or even other Marx Generators!
This maintains high voltage preferences but can really boost current or overall power.
Often used to even simulate lightning strikes on aircraft!

They work by allowing flow of normal input voltage along parallel resistor circuits. Each resistor pair is connected to a capacitor such that each cap leg can form an arc.
When running, the caps begin to charge.
Once the first cap is charged sufficiently to arc, it effectively causes a short circuit which contributes a dump of charge into the next cap. A cascade occurs. Sequentially firing the caps which now form a series connection!
This end voltage is cummulative and proportional to the number of stages used. The first cap or stage effectively doubles the voltage. The second triples and so forth. I am using 11 stages here.
Once discharged the cycle repeats.
Its frequency modulated by spark gap distance, cap and resistor properties, and environmental effects.

This gives me a method of adding Amps to my HV systems. Having practical applications in transmission, induction, mag and coil guns, imaging, uv and xrays, microwaves, drive systems, tasers, fabrication, nanoscience and medicine etc .
