By now I am very sure that the international media houses are showing various news pieces about the election in Kenya. Over the past 3 days we have had several Independent Electoral Observers in the country overseeing the elections.
We have John Kerry on Behalf of the Carter Foundation, the European Union, IGAD and the Common Wealth.
Random Thought : Do we have African Electoral Observers in the USA or in the UK?
Yesterday evening they had announced their preliminary results. All the four agreed that this was the most Free, Fair and Credible election in the history of the country.
It is the first time in the history of the country where a candidate has been able to get more than half of the votes in regions perceived to be a stronghold of his competitor. What is more incredible is that this is reflected in the Governorship and Senatorial positions as well.

Presidential Candidates Detailed Information
A BRIEF HISTORY ON KENYAN VOTING TRENDS.
For those who may not know, Kenyan elections have largely been dictated by tribal arithmetic. The two top candidates who currently control 98% of the total votes cast combined belong to one of the largest tribes in terms of population.
The current President (Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta) belong to the largest community known as the Kikuyus of which I belong too. His formidable opponent (Raila Amollo Odinga) belongs to the Luo community the third largest community in the country. We have 44 tribes in the country with the recent gazzetment of the Kenyan-Indians by the current President.
This two opponents are the sons of the first President of Kenya (Jomo Kenyatta) and Vice President (Oginga Odinga) respectively. They are basically political dynasties. This two had a falling out which to this day, 40+ years on, still exist with what is perceived as hatred between the two communities.
CLEARING UP MISREPRESENTATIONS BY INTERNATIONAL MEDIA OUTLETS.
Media outlets such as CNN and Aljazeera will have you believe that out country is on fire at the moment. That is not the case. What is happening at the moment is there pockets of protests in two specific places as was expected.
One is in Kibera - This is a large slum in Nairobi. Raila Odinga was the Member of Parliament for this constituency for over 20 years. He has several supporters here.
The second was in Kondele in Kisumu County - Raila Odinga's community lives in this county where he enjoys fanatical support.
So far 4 people died after altercations with the police in separate incidents. 3 of them were killed after an armed robbery incident. They were taking advantage of the empty streets and closed shops. The other died after a reaction to the tear gas used by police to disperse violent crowds.
WHAT OCCASIONED THE PROTESTS?
As from yesterday, the incumbent Presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta was leading the race by 54% to his opponents 44%. Yesterday the losing candidate Raila Odinga came out with allegations that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission otherwise know as "IEBC" had had their servers hacked by the incumbent and that they were altering the figures in his favor.
He had table evidence about the supposed hacking including server log files from the IEBC database. This sparked questions on how he had acquired those log files from a secure server. Whether he had also hacked into the system as well or whether he had a mole in the IEBC itself.
Later it emerged that the log files they had submitted were from a MySql database yet the IEBC was using a different type of server all together.
Today in the afternoon he held a press conference and submitted documents allegedly from a mole in the IEBC who had furnished him with the real results which showed him in the lead with just over 8 million votes while his opponent Uhuru Kenyatta was trailing behind with just over 7 million votes.
Again, he was questioned about the identity of the mole but failed to provide the name saying that it would put the source's life in danger. He was also asked about how he had obtained the final tally yet over 400 polling stations had not yet submitted their results. He failed to answer decisively.
This encouraged Mr Odinga's fanatical supporters to get on the streets and celebrate what they perceived as the truth from their leader. Fortunately, their was no loss of life. There was a heavy downpour which forced them out of the streets and into their homes.
CONCLUSION & PERSONAL VIEWS
Currently the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta seems on course for re-election. The IEBC has assured the country that the verification processes will have been complete by the end of the day tomorrow after which the Chairman will announce the dully elected President.
The law prescribes that any grievances that arises from the electoral process shall be handled by the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land withing 14 days after which the President will be sworn in.
My views are that in the past four election Mr. Raila, the country's former Prime minister (This position was created in 2007-2008 during the Grand Coalition government to help put a stop to the Post Election Violence. It does not exist anymore in the new constitutional dispensation.) has not accepted defeat in the Presidential elections.
This time will not be any different as already seen with the false evidence of hacking among other baseless claims. Four times he has tried to become President and 4 times he has had his votes "Stolen". His father before him attempted to capture the presidency and failed and now Mr. Odinga, at the age of 72, is failing again.
Voting patterns show that the current President has managed to get more than 50 percent votes in regions perceived as hostile which had voted overwhelmingly for his opponent Mr. Odinga.
This may have been occasioned by the constant message to move away from tribal based voting to development minded voting by the President which has also been accompanied by physical work. An example is the flagship Standard gauge Railway project from Nairobi to Mombasa that more than halved the time it takes to travel by road and at less than half the cost.
It is more likely that Mr. Odinga, who has already declared himself President and demanded that the IEBC chairman declare him so, is going to call on his supporters to go to the streets and protest. He is well known asking his supporters to engage in mass action whenever things never go his way.
This protest have never ended without loss of life. We however hope as a country that majority of the peace loving Kenyans who have witnessed what was described as free, fair and credible process by all the independent foreign observers will choose to remain peaceful.
We hope that the people learnt the horrible lesson from the 2007-2008 skirmishes that claimed 1,500 lives to never walk that path again. The Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security has assured the country of heavy security personnel deployment to ensure that the security of the country is not compromised.
Tomorrow I will have another update. Keep an eye out for it. Looking forward to your questions and feedback.
