Get AZO its over the counter Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) and can get it at any store like Safeway / Riterid or even Wallmart. It's more than likely also something they gave you a prescription for instead of using antibiotics to warn off any possible urinary tract infection. Its a concentrated cranberry pill and take 2 a day with water as directed. It will help so much and keep away any infection. Typically yes correct it takes about 72hr from the top to the bottom of the kidney and your kidney looks like a sponge so its going to hurt as your urine pressure pushes it threw. Is this your first? I ask because 4mm is rather large most adults yes 99% will pass 1 kidney stone in their life and it hurts like hell and will be the size of a grain of salt. I could show you some 1-6mm I have a nice collection as I have been passing them since I was 6 years old , I am disabled as I have passed as many as a dozen in one single month. I also have great relaxation and breathing things I do along with your best friend is a hot bath and not just to relax your kidneys but to make you fart. The air in your upper intestine from gas will make a kidney stone on the right side hurt and air in the lower will do left so a hot bath will help relax the kidney and make you fart. Honestly it helps and do what the doctor said , take it easy.. Walking is good but can hut , but it can also speed up the process.. Now I hate to say this but yes the passing threw the kidney material sucks but now it has to go down your ureter and its going to rip up the urinary canal ( this is where AZO really helps ) and when it passes by your inbe ( in between butthole and balls aka taint ) its going to hurt like a bitch and make your screen a lil and it will make your tighten up... DONT! It will make it get caught in either your penis shaft or at the mushroom of your penis head. Then you have to build up urine or use tweezers or goto the ER or urgent care. Not fun...
I am a great source for info , I am disabled due to kidney stones its that bad. That's just 1 of my problems , I have 1 passing on the left and 2 that are getting to large building in the right side kidney and i always feel them but I am used to it. I would like to know if this is your first? If so it will be interesting to find out what its made of , mine are 2 types and its not normal for more than 1 but I pass calcium oxalate and those are less common for me , but they have black in them or are all black typically its a mix of that and my more common calcium phosphate typical orange/peach colour.
So 1rst stone for me 1984 , and we still do not know anything more than we knew then scientifically or medically. Recently they started to contradict many things from the past 30 years such as giving a bag of IV to a patient in the ER to get them to build up fluids. They are not supposed to but they give Tamsulosin aka Flomax to shrink your prostate and open the urinary canal to give the stone a little more room without the prostate being in the way or getting cut up from the stone. Drink that 4 liters of water a day they told you to do ( i think coffee works better makes me go and go and go its a diuretic and that doesn't just mean bowel movement ) and Gatoraid is a great compromise , I hate water it tastes horrible. Then just keep off you feet as much as possible , don't use that as excuse not to walk a little even to the mailbox or even just a walk from one end of the houses or apartment to the other side a few times and then back down. Find positions that are comfy , use hot compress or heating pad. Jezz I could write a Novel on how to make it as easy on a person mentally and physically... My only concern with humans and kidney stones is the opiate issue in this world , please buddy do not abuse them. If they gave you some 5/500 vikes or 3/325 percs or stronger and it says take 1-2 a day as needed for pain every 4 hours and that does not work do not take more than that. What you would want to and need to do is call the doctor and explain , I am sure you will goto a urologist afterwards because you now have a high chance of future stones.
You know like when you do not clean your toilet and it builds up the hard yellow crust in the bowl or around the bolts holding it to the floor. Thats actually all the same as a kidney stone. As the minerals from food and drink pass threw your urine they build up the same inside as they do outside on the toilet bowl. Sometimes you have to use a screw driver and chip that off toilets.
You , me and all of us are lucky that these days they have intracorporeal lipsotripsy and extracorporeal lithotripsy vs cutting a 4-5" inch cut in your side and cut the kidney open and remove it. My dad has a scar from multiple surgeries from removal of stones while serving in the Vietnam war and they just cut your open up until around when Clinton was in office as the USA president and a new method was created. Unfortunately there is only one hole for the medical tools to go into so they do not have to cut you open , then since your urinary tubes are like rubber they typically put in stints ( straws ) so they don't collapse after being stretched but in 2014 a stint in my left kidney after endoscopic lithotripsy caused kidney failure and it looked like my pee was a pink wine.
I have very much an interest in working with any university or medical facility and any doctors or people in the medical field in research.I would be more than happy to to provide servers to start a BOINC project to distribute any data in the field related to " Kidney Stone's " and anything related to any data processing and research that needs to be compiled along with the " tunica albuginea " and " corpora cavernosa " as both males and females can fracture their Penis/Vagina and these are areas in the medical field we know almost nothing about. We know more how to fight cancer and aids and Ebola and less about Kidney stones and every time we learn something it gets ruled out and then something else we have been doing gets banned from treatment. So if anybody reads this and has coding abilities , doctors or just people in the medical field interested or even average Joe's like myself with admin and knowledge who want to help I want to start processing the data the medical field is putting on the back burner because we all know its what they add into our foods these days that cause them. You can eat/drink more citric acid and break them down but you cant stop them..

I am sorry to use your post as a " looking for people in this field " but this is something important to me and I will be on kidney dialysis eventually due to the damage to my kidneys and I am always sick due to my " Chronic Kidney Stones" and I know that it wont save or help my life but maybe it could help somebody else's quality of life or maybe we could put a stop to kidney stones.
Take care buddy and get rest , oh put feet on pillow if you lay down and a heating pad or hot compress ( wet washcloth , put in microwave 1min and put it in a plastic bag DO NOT put it directly on your skin and risk a burn , if 1 minute isn't enough ( my 900w microwave it is but i have gel packs hot/cold ) and I hope you have someone to take care of you meals and such. It't tough to do it on your own , I pre-bake taters so i have instant meals to heat up when dealing with stones , mine are constant I do not get a break. Matter fact I have to end this post as I have one exiting my right kidney and I am going to go soak in hot water before I scream in pain but wanted to see if there was any info I could give to help and any others whom passed or will pass kidney stones and reads this.

I am willing to host projects related to this field and would donate the resources. I do have a C-7000 in storage with 16 x BL460c Gen 7s and newer CPU's if the project was to ghrow along with racks and or half racks in 5 local data centers here in the Seattle Washington area.
