Congratulations! I hope he will like it. I was a scoutleader in Holland for some years (age 4-6). I would like to hear how it works in your country.

In the Philippines, at the start of kindergarten up to senior high school, we have boy scout and girl scout.
Activities depends on age brackets.
In older kid, senior high school, there are full activities, like camping, hiking, swimming lesson, other common activities in scouting. we also do community service like cleaning the streets, school and seashores. we also attend fund raising activities, like fun run, fun walk and some sport competition.

Scouting awareness in the Philippines is really high for both public and private schools.

I have already alot of boy scout who became successful professionals, and some starting to become community leaders in their own barangays.

I think what scouting does is the same except in Holland it has nothing to do with school. It is something extra kids can do on Saturdays. Especially kids with problems like adhd are sent over there.
Swimming lessons mostly start at the age of 4 years old, at most schools it is no longer involved (plus they start way later). So it is up to the parents and it will cost you at least 50 euro a month for the next 3 years.

Congratulations!! I have never been a scout in my school days but I think it is a really nice experience as my friends do narrate.

it is really fun, though a little costly since you need to buy a complete set of uniform and some scouting stuff in case camping comes in.
I am also not a participating boy scout when I am in school, since due to the cost, and my fragile health when I was in high school.

But today, I am an Adult Leader for boy scout. I facilitate scouting activities, even accompany them in other school to participate there.

And now, my kid started his scouting journey.
