Basic Seamanship: Making a Monkey's Fist Knot

Hello Steemit Friends!

Today I will make a detailed guide of monkey's fist knot !

The purpose of this knot is to provide a permanent weight to the end of a rope or a line as a heaving line which provides a temporary weight).
We often use it to send the ships line by tying a monkey fist knot to a heaving line and then tie the heaving line to the normal line that we then send to shore (egg. spring line, Brest line etc.)
This knot can take time to master, but when perfected is a simple and effective knot to tie.

Let us start the guide!

First step is to just wrap the rope 3 times around your fingers:

Step two :

Now wrap the rope in the space created by your fingers

Step three:

Wrap the rope 3 times in the place that your fingers were (you remove the fingers )

Without the fingers it will look like this:

Step four:

Pull from each end to make tight the knot.
