MY DRUG ADDICTION RANTS

in knowledge •  7 years ago

like the campaign and sensitization on AIDS was everywhere, in the NEWS adverts on the radio, TV shows and Radio Programs; lets come together and speak against Drug addiction and Substance Abuse among our youths and adults....

My first observation in this town aside from the Laissez-faire lifestyle and drinking attitude among the female folks was the high level of PSYCHOSIS on the streets, some when asked, were attributed to JUJU, punishment for money rituals, but a good number of them I discovered, were as a result to DRUG ADDICTION
Tramadol, Rophynol (roofies), codeine, flurazepam, Benylin (Beny), Morphine... these are drugs that can be purchased off the shelf of a pharmacy or a drug store
Cigarettes, sheesha (uuuuhhnn the ladies delight), cigar, skunk (SK), pawpaw leaves, hemp, cannabis, black Mamba .... these leaves can be purchased from any corner (IKORO) of a typical Nigerian Street.... hhmmm I almost forgot Crack...the Aboki's secret ingredient for a knock off
While the rich kids purchase top brands.... the others scramble for the ones that go for #50 a wrap... funny how affordable this slow brain and heart eating substances cost yh? Ooo well the are actually that affordable.
We dance to songs written and recorded under the influence of these substance... even our politicians patronize higher substances..while the blend it up with luxurious drinks...
These substances are a must in most linkups.. meetings.. get-together and parties organized in our society today....
Most youths and even adults in Nigeria are addicts of these substances... I don't know how exaggerated this could be, but as at last year October about 3M bottles of codeine were sold everyday... could this be true, really????

Parents, responsible adults, brothers and sisters, that your relative that is always happy, for some, always sad, for some, just a nice fellow... I think you should question their source of joy or sadness... maybe parents really need to start talking to their children and helping them out of addiction...
Maybe pharmacist should actually devise a means to curtail the sell of these drugs, maybe purchases should be done only based on prescription or something more rigid... as a pharmacist you are at the primary point of dispensary, you can actually attest to the number of people that purchase this everyday.. it's time to stop ignoring, it's time to start giving your customers the talk.
Let's come together so we can fight this menace that is slowly eating up the Brains and Hearts of our children and loved ones...
