One of the most important things to remember is, you never know enough. The moment you think you know it all is the moment you fail because you’re frozen. You stop growing, stop learning and you become stagnant.
I’m a big believer that you need to be like a sponge and soak up as much knowledge as you can from the those who have risen to the top of their craft. With this mindset and a desire to keep growing as a person you can make tremendous leaps ahead in success.
So what can you do? Read. That’s right, turn off the TV and start gaining some knowledge. I look at it this way. Your goal should be to add more tools to your mental toolbox that you can call upon when needed.
Here are three great books I enjoyed that can get you moving in the right direction:
Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.
Fantastic book on leadership from two elite Navy SEAL officers. The book has so many nuggets of valuable information it’s definitely a must read. One example is the importance of “Commander’s Intent”. This really stood out and helped me realize how I can incorporate it more effectively with my own team.
Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers by Tim Ferriss.
I haven’t finished the book yet but every part that I’ve read so far has great tips that you can apply to your life and help drive your own success. This book speaks directly to my belief that you can find great inspiration and grab bits of knowledge from other highly successful people.
Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future by Peter Thiel and Blake Masters
If you love innovation, creativity and the future, this is another must read. It really made me think deeper myself when it comes to driving innovation. We should be inspired to break free from status quo and focus on creating new things. A great read that will definitely challenge your thinking.
