Whether it’s how to mine cryptocurrency, or putting a baby to sleep, you’re probably an expert in something. Perhaps you thought there’s no way your expertise could be monetized, but with growing interest in online learning, many people are finding work as infopreneurs - teaching their expertise to others.
Infopreneurs engage in knowledge commerce by teaching online courses, selling media, consulting, and otherwise sharing their knowledge with others. They’re part of a growing corps of freelancers, 57.3 million in the United States, who added $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy last year.
You don’t have to know everything about a topic to become an infopreneur, just have enough expertise to teach a beginner. If you’re just starting out, you might want to brush up on skills with an online class or two. Then you can start making money from your expertise.
Infopreneurship starts with building a following online, your followers will become you customer-base. Start with a website or blog, post videos to YouTube, and establish a presence on social media sites. Recruit new followers by offering exclusive deals and freebies, or through guest appearance on other blogs and podcasts.
As early as you can, start offering one-on-one tutoring and exclusive subscriber content. As your customer-base grows you can begin to offer group classes and scale up your business. Advertising products related to you expertise, or promoting products for sponsors can add to your revenue stream as well. You can even design and sell branded merchandise for passive income.
