The tree of good and evil knowledge is likely the oldest known story introducing our naivete of knowledge being separated from us.
It was in naivete that Lucifer misconceived,
and being naively innocent; Eve was able to be deceived.
It is naivete which allowed the first misconception. Allowing imperfection to enter perfection, falseness to enter reality.
It is also our story as we are all born Naive and prone to error.
It is suppose to be a tree of good as well as evil knowledge. What good is naivete?
- If knowing, where is surprise followed by laughter?
- Where is growth if we are already know?
- Can curiosity and awe be found without naivete?
- Why do we say "shh.. don't tell me how it ends"?
- And hope that there will always be something new to experience?
From our innocence we grow, learn and experience anew gaining meaning, wonderment and enjoyment of life.
Naivete manifests all these and more.
Were we meant to stay naive?
Proverbs 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
Romans 8:20-21
For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
Freedom?
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Ecclesiastes 7:8
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.
