No contract = no commerce.
No license = no charging instrument.
No victim = no crime.
They can't write you a valid ticket if you aren't in the system to have one written to you.
That's what the officer kept telling me yesterday, that he "can't write you a ticket with this ID. You're not in our system, so we need your OTHER name (who you USED to be known as - the juridical person to which a driver's license was issued) in order to process a ticket so we can both be on our way.
The person he was seeking to which I am a current agent of the account no longer has a valid driver's license to which a ticket could be issued.
I wasn't lying when I told him I sent it back. The ticket he wrote me proved that. I don't blow smoke out of my ass when it comes to these things. That would be a very bad thing to do.
Had I not sent it back 2 weeks ago that whole thing could have gone a whole lot worse than just having wasted an hour butting heads on the side of the road.
Something was telling me it was good timing on my part the moment he turned his lights on. The first thing I could think of was thank fuck I had done what I done sending stuff back otherwise I'd be in serious trouble.
Keeping a smile on your face and being polite also helps. Cops are people too. Don't wanna catch a cop with a shit attitude on your behalf on a bad day. You will regret it.
Guaranteed. The whole encounter ended it smiles and handshaking. He even gave stickers to my kids and offered us a ride somewhere if we needed.
Still a bit on edge from yesterday but overall still walking away smiling having learned some seriously valuable lessons from experiencing this and having a mentor who takes time out of his day to help me, knowing I have the closest people in my life having my back no matter what and a bunch more who are always looking out for me.
Today is a good day.
