Setelah melalui serangkaian proses demokrasi sesuai dengan Anggaran Dasar dan Anggaran Rumah Tangga (AD/ART), maka terpilihlah Fauzi Yusuf (Sidompeng) sebagai ketua umum Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia masa bakti 2019-2023 secara aklamasi.
Beliau dicalonkan oleh seluruh pengurus cabang olahraga di Aceh Utara. Ada 29 cabang olahraga dibawah pembinaan KONI Kabupaten Aceh Utara. 28 diantaranya hadir memberikan suara pada Musorkap XII tahun 2019 di Hotel Lido Graha Kota Lhokseumawe.
