Dalam kesempatan ini, saya ingin menulis tentang daerah pegunungan kawasan terpencil di Kabupaten Aceh Timur, yaitu Kecamatan Serbajadi (Lokop) yang sejak lama masyarakatnya membudidayakan tanaman kopi tanpa tersentuh campur tangan pemerintah, dan merupakan minuman favorit masyarakat di seluruh dunia sekiranya tanaman kopi di Kecamatan Serbajadi ini layak untuk dikembangkan dan dimodernkan system budidayanya agar berkualitas, dan dapat membawa nama baik daerah Aceh Timur di kancah international.

Letak topografi yang berbukit-bukit dan berudara sejuk tentu menjadikan masyarakat daerah Kecamatan Serbajadi (Lokop) Aceh Timur, menyesuaikan jenis tanaman yang layak dikembangkan.

Pengetahuan baru saya ini saya dapatkan sejak 5 Desember 2017 lalu. Waktu itu, saya bersama Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Aceh Timur, terjun ke lokasi jalan Peureulak-Lokop yang ditimbun material longsor akibat hujan deras.

Setibanya di lokasi jalan yang ditutup longsor, saya memoto titik-titik yang longsor. Nah saat ini saya melihat pohon-pohon kayu yang bercampu tanah yang menutup jalan yang longsor dari perbukitan ternyata merupakan tanaman kopi.

Begitu pukul 07.00 WIB, seorang warga setempat mengutip biji kopi yang sudah tua untuk dikeringkan dan diolah menjadi bubuk kopi, dan diedarkan di pasar-pasar.

Ini artinya bahwa Aceh Timur, memiliki daerah Lokop yang cocok dikembangkan dan dimodernisasikan tanaman kopinya oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Timur.
