Everyone can go to North Korea with visa except South Korean. The Korean War that began on June 25, 1950 is not over. We are keeping an armistice from 1953. Technically we have been at war, which is why South Korean can not go to North Korea.
However, it depends on the characteristic of the government. When the ruling party is a progressive, North and South Korea have a good relationship. Twenty years ago, the 15th President of South Korea and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, President Kim developed a very good relationship with North Korea. At that time, North Korea allowed us to go a specified area of the country for traveling.
Nowadays, the current government that has been in power since 2017 is a progressive party and has an unprecedented great relationship with North Korea. South Korea’s President Moon and North Korea President Kim have met in summit meetings several times and promised to cooperation each other. The entire world is closely watching the relation between the two countries.
Therefore, South Koreans are expecting that the war will come to an end soon and expect to travel to North Korea freely. Also I’m looking forward to a train that connects North and South Korea, so I can go to North Korea by the train.
