Modern Japan enters seven advanced countries, such as the United States and Western Europe, but is the only non-Christian. Many Westerners who visit Japan will be amazed by the primitive and native animism of Japan.
I'm Korean, but I'm a Protestant, so this animism in Japan feels strange and mysterious.
Many Koreans went to Japan for Christian mission, but Japanese still do not accept Christianity. Have you ever thought about why?
I wonder if there is a Westerner who thinks about why Japan, which was the first westernized in Asia and emerged as the first western developed country, rejected Christianity like America and Europe.
Westerners I met in Japan were usually interested in Japanese cartoons, anime, adult movies, and Nintendo games, but seemed unaware of the religions, beliefs, philosophies, and morals of the Japanese.
Most Koreans are similar in that they understand Japanese culture.
However, with Christian thought, I like to look at Japanese religion and faith from a different perspective. Why do Japanese don't believe in Jesus Christ but want blonde and blue eyes like Westerners?
I'm not an expert in Japanese history and culture, but I've thought about it in the history of Japan.
The first Christians to enter Japan were Portuguese.Believing Roman Catholics, the Portuguese came to Japan and exported gunpowder and musket guns, becoming the first European Christians to enter Japan. Unfortunately, the Portuguese are notorious for their slave trade and commit their actions in Japan.
The Japanese had to sell many Japanese men and women to Portuguese slave merchants to buy Portuguese goods.

In particular, many Japanese women are prostituted by the Portuguese, and they buy Japanese anger. Because Europeans sold Japanese as slaves, the Japanese eventually deported and closed the Europeans.
Since the 16th century, Catholic priests missioned to Japan, resulting in hundreds of thousands of Japanese converts, whose Japanese ruler bans and persecutes Catholic mission because of European slave trade.
Eventually, the Tokugawa shogunate expelled Europeans and forbade Christianity.
Christianity in Japan disappears.
Japan banned Christian mission until the American fleet opened in 1854.
Japan is under the power of the emerging Christian empire of America, allowing freedom of Christian mission. As a result, Japanese Christianity emerged with the support of American Protestantism.
However, Japanese people have the fear, anger and resentment that the Christian Empire, the United States, will conquer Japan.
In particular, the belief that the Christian faith would destroy animism and Shinto that preserved Japanese pride and tradition.
Shinto in Japan is similar to Hinduism in India.
It is Shinto that Buddhism from Korea is combined with Japanese animism.
Japanese nationalists believed that Western Christianity, believing in the god of Jesus, would eventually destroy Japanese traditions and beliefs and make them American colonies.
Thus, the emperor of Japan is made a human god of the same kind as Jesus.
If Westerners believe in the human god of Jesus, Japanese nationalism reveals that we have an emperor with a divine lineage of 2000.
Japanese nationalists created modern Japanese Shinto what made the Japanese Emperor the god of equivalent to Jesus.
The Imperial Japanese Emperor was created like this, and under the command of the Holy Emperor, the Japanese Empire invaded Korea and China.
Ishihara Kanji, Japan's representative nationalist, insisted that Japan must holy war with the United States because the Christian empire would eventually conquer East Asia.
He prophesied that the Japanese emperor would first go to China to become the emperor of the whole of East Asia, and then win the final war for the Christian Empire, the United States, and the defense of East Asia.
Japanese nationalists, including the Ishihara Kanji, shouted that Japan would make great achievements in preventing the tragedy of conquering East Asia by Christian empires represented by the United States.
They exclaimed that the Christian empire represented by the United States would slaughter and rape Japanese with beasts and demons.
So, Japan was at war with the United States, and Americans called demons and beasts, not humans, and committed suicide attacks like Kamikaze.
The majority of Japanese are very angry and resentful of the fact that the Christian Empire, the US, dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nakasaki.
The Americans did not drop the atomic bomb on Germany, the same Christian nation and white man in WWII, but Japan dropped it as a yellow race, not a Christian state. The majority of Japanese believe it.
This is a reason why modern Japanese people always ask the US for apologies for dropping atomic bombs.
Here came the belief that the god Jesus loved only white, American-believing Christians and hated and cursed Japanese.
The Japanese people's resentment and anger toward the Christian Empire, the United States, is such a deep rejection of Christianity!
